Synopsis:

POPPA, GOD BLESS (based on a true story) is a modern day Krapp’s Last Tape. Joseph Quinn, age 94, lives alone in a 3 story house in Brookline MA. On his 90th birthday, he received an internet station from his 7 children and created an email list-serve titled The Chesnutt Hill Gazette. Twice a day, Joe explores what it means to have an immediate ability to update his subscribers with the daily family news (and sports updates, should there be a Boston game on). Fearing the delete button (total erasure), caps lock (trapped in a yelling match), and escape (death), Joseph sips on his medicine (glasses of Manhattans) and discovers that his emails allow him to drift into the comforts of his memory. Consequently, as his mind and body grows older, he seeks solace in the digital ability to obtain immortality.

A cube onstage, with scrim walls for projection of memories to emerge around his email station.
