‘Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ is up to some new and mesmerizing tricks

It’s a mesmerizing marriage of technology and story that echoes the play’s projection-heavy Broadway and West End productions while using Mezzocchi’s distinctive animation to outline a path of its own.

PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

In 2022, The NH Chronicle profiled Andy's Summer Playhouse describing it as "a theater that inspires young people."  See the full profile here
Since 2015, Jared Mezzocchi has been the Producing Artistic Director of Andy’s Summer Playhouse in Wilton, N.H. Andy’s is an innovative children’s theater that brings in nationally-acclaimed professional artists to create original work alongside young artists between the ages of 8-18. Under Mezzocchi’s leadership, Andy's has won several NH Theater Awards, including Best Production (2018) and Best Playwriting (2019), and was recognized with New Hampshire Gov. Christopher Sununu's 2020 Silver Lining Resiliency Award for groundbreaking digital work produced during the pandemic.

Most notably, Mezzocchi eliminated tuition in 2020 (which continues today) and has successfully pivoted the 53-year-old organization into a contributor-only revenue model, focused entirely on grants and donor relations. As a result, for three years in a row, Andy's has clocked the strongest annual revenue in the organization's history.

EDUCATOR

Jared Mezzocchi is an Associate Professor at The University of Maryland, College Park. He teaches in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies within the MFA Design program. Since joining the university in 2012, Mezzocchi developed and launched the curriculum in Projection and Media Design, a program he leads to this day.
In 2020, Mezzocchi co-wrote a successful $9 million dollar proposal for what became the school’s Maya Brin Institute for New Performance, a center for experimentation of interdisciplinary performance and technology.

Mezzocchi is co-director of the Maya Brin Institute, alongside dance faculty member Kendra Portier. Read about it here.
A University of Maryland news release described the Maya Brin Institute for New Performance as a way "to boldly reimagine the future of education in the performing arts."
